This Anglican church was originally the old chapel at Te Hēnui cemetery and was purchased from the New Plymouth City Council for £250. It was transported to a site on the corner of Bideford & Upjohn Streets in Welbourn which had been donated in 1927 by A.E. Webster.
It was renamed St Michael & All Angels (Church & People 1 February 1952) and was dedicated by Bishop Holland on 27 September 1951.
It was demolished when the new Brooklands Co-operating Church opened in 1973. The church hall was re-located to Midhirst.
