Manganui River Bridge - Bristol Road, Inglewood -1911

This was one of the longest bridges erected in Taranaki during the first decade of the 20th century (Thornton 2001). 

A flood in May 1911 caused some damage to boxing and in August the engineer, S Orbell, reported that the bridge would not be finished for a week or so, "owing to the difficulty of obtaining cement."

The Daily News reported on 13 Sept 1911 that the bridge was "completed last week" and that Frank Williams had supervised the project on behalf of the Moa Road Board. The bridge was finally opened in 1912.
