These plaques, located on the landing outside Puke Ariki, were unveiled on 9 August 2008 for the 150th anniversary of the Wellington West Coast & Taranaki Regiment. In front of a large crowd, New Plymouth District Council CEO, Barbara McKerrow, granted the Regiment the freedom to march through the city, swords drawn and bayonets fixed, whenever they wanted to.
