The Mahoe School Plaque sits near the corner of Opunake and Palmer Roads, near the site of the former Mahoe School, which was closed in 2004. The school, which is now privately owned, adjoins the hall.

 

Plaque inscription reads:

Site of Mahoe School

District first settled 1880s

Upgraded 3 times. Average roll 40-45 pupils

Principal teaching seniors together with a junior teacher

The school was closed against the community's wishes

December 2004

By the then Labour Government
