Wārea & Pungarehu War Memorial

The Wārea War Memorial, including the flagpole, was unveiled at Warea School on 7 March 1923. After the school closed, it was moved to the Cape Boat Club and unveiled in April 2006. 

The Pungarehu Memorial was unveiled in 2007. The names were taken from the honours boards in the Pungarehu Hall. The Pungarehu War Memorial gates at the school did not have local servicemen recorded on it. 

Both plaques - with an additional one - were re-installed and unveiled on 25 April 2021.
