Located at the now demolished Te Kiri School, the Te Kiri war memorial was erected to the memory of those men of the district who fell in the Great War. The memorial was officially unveiled on 16 October 1921 by the MP Mr O. Hawken. The first meeting to discuss the erection of a memorial for the fallen soldiers was held on 27 March 1920
