The Tariki War Memorial was originally erected adjoining St Philip's Anglican Church. The memorial was unveiled on 11 November 1921 by the Rt. Rev. Dr. A.W. Averill of Auckland.
The memorial was moved to the Tariki School grounds when the church was demolished in 1970. It was moved again to its present site on the Domain alongside the public hall in the 1990s (?) after the school closed and was sold to private owners. The Tariki Hall was sold and removed from its site in 2018.
