On ANZAC Day 2015 an oak tree, grown from an acorn from Christchurch's Gallipoli Oak near the Bridge of Remembrance, was planted in the grounds of the Tarata Church as a memorial to the six Tarata residents who lost their lives in World War I.

A plaque with their names was also unveiled.
