The Skinner Road Memorial Hall was built on land donated by Mr H.A.L. Hann. The opening of the hall 9 August 1958 was the culmination of many years of fundraising and over 12 months of hard labour.

Work began on the hall in March 1957 and altogether the local community put in "4,000 man-hours" to build the hall. The total cost was £3,400, of which half was raised by the community and the remainder coming from the Governments £ for £ subsidy.

The hall was opened by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr W.T. Anderton, who also unveiled a plaque commemorating all the men from the district who served overseas in World War II.

In 1999 the hall was sold to the Stratford A & P Association and was moved from its original site to the Stratford A & P Showgrounds.
