Elliot Residence, 59 McLean Street (1913)

This attractive double-brick villa was constructed for Thomas Elliot and his family in 1913. 

The bricks from the home were made locally at the kiln on Big Jims Hill, then owned by Johnston Bros (with clay from Petersens Bluff), and the timber was supplied by Boon Bros in New Plymouth. The architect is currently unknown.

Thomas Elliot died in 1920, and ownership of the property later passed to his daughter Amelia Nosworthy, who in turn passed the property to her daughter, Maisie Lewis. Mrs Lewis moved out of the property in May 1993, and it was soon sold - ending 80 years of family ownership.
