Kathleen Anne Guilford (later Colson) was born on 21 July 1921. Her parents were Leonard and Alice Guilford. Her brothers were Leonard Cecil Guilford and Bruce Norman Guilford.

During World War Two she enlisted as a Private in the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps. She worked and served for a time in Wellington and then in the Middle East and on the hospital ship the ‘Oranje’ as a nurse.

After the war she moved back to New Plymouth and married Sidney Colson in 1949. She married Maurice O’Connor in 1956. She died in New Plymouth on 28 December 1997.
