Roland (Roly) George Chadwick was born in Waitara in 1922, the son of Arthur and Margaret Chadwick. He served with the Royal New Zealand Navy as a signalman during the Second World War.
He married Hazel Elizabeth Chadwick (nee Honnor) (1924-2010) in New Plymouth in March 1948. Roland died in Waitara 26 May 2010.
