Owen Bullot was the third son of Arthur and Bertha Bullot of New Plymouth. He attended St Joseph's Primary School and New Plymouth Boy’s High School and worked at the New Plymouth post office before enlisting as a Private in the Infantry Reinforcements in December 1942.

He was wounded in Florence, Italy and returned home in 1945. He eldest brother, Bertrand, known as Patrick, was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Army during WW2 and later remained in the Permanent Forces until he retired with the rank of Brigadier General and a CBE.

Owen’s other brother, Frank, was a Flying Officer with the Royal Airforce but was killed in an aircraft accident while serving in Egypt in 1941. 

Owen married Tansey Maire Murphy and they had two children Maire and David. Owen died in Napier on 24 February 2000.
