The United Church of Inglewood is a union of Methodists and Presbyterians. It is located on the corner of Kelly and Brown Streets.
According to, "Te Moa: 100 Years of History of Inglewood", a decision was made in 1959 by the Methodist Board to build a new church after their church in Rata Street was sold to the Post Office.
The last service at the old church was held at 11.00 a.m. on 23 April 1961, and the new church was opened at 2.00 p.m. the same day by Mr and Mrs L. Sutherland. It has obviously been subject to several additions and alterations over the past fifty years.
On 28 October, 1970 the final meeting of the local Methodist Church was held, and from then on this church became known as the United Church. (Daily News 2 December 1970)
The first Presbyterian Church in Inglewood was a wooden one in Cutfield Street - the foundation stone was laid by the Earl of Ranfurly on 4 August 1902. In 1926 a smaller concrete one was built in front of the existing church - now demolished.
The final service in the Knox Presbyterian Church was officiated by the Rev.F. Ralph, on 29 November 1970.
