The site for this Presbyterian church in Pātea was purchased in 1876. Three years later the church was opened by the Rev. Treadwell of St Paul's Church, Whanganui.

It was designed by Mr. W. Aitcheson and the builder was Mr. D.M. Warren who erected it for the contract price of £430.

In 1962 the Methodist Church joined the Presbyterians to form a united church, "The Pātea Presbyterian and Methodist Church". In 1971 the porch was removed and replaced by a new vestibule.

It appears to be known now (2015) as St Luke's Church.
