This Presbyterian church in Grey Street, Waitara was officially opened on 21 October 1914 in front of a packed congregation. It was a concrete building with a capacity of 180 and cost £576. It was designed and built by Mr A. Bent.

A small hall was built next door in 1932. A new hall replaced this in the early 1950s - timber for this was hauled out of the bush at Pehu by the then minister, Mr.L. Moore and parishoners.

In June 2011 tenders were put out for the demolition of the church and it was demolished in September 2011. The new Knox Presbyterian Church was opened on 16 February 2013.

The Presbyterian Church in Waitara celebrated its centennial on 25 October 2014. (TDN 27 October 2014)
