This building on the corner of Regan Street West and Portia Streets is thought to have been built about 1895.

Little is known about its early history, although it appears to have served as a church/hall/meeting place for several different denominations. These include the Bretheren and the Stratford Bible Baptist Church.

It is now a private residence having undergone major renovations. These sympathetic renovations have allowed the building to retain some important parts of the Gospel Hall's history.

The large windows on the south side of the building came from a church in Tauranga that had been badly fire damaged. The bell-tower is a modern addition.
