Murray Simpson’s Swanndri story is a classic bushman’s tale. In the late 1970s he found himself at the Whangamomona Pub, a beer in one hand and a pool cue in the other. The stake on the table? One pre-loved, ten-year-old, woollen bush shirt.

Needless to say, Simpson came off best – the proud new owner of the old Swanndri. From then on it went all over the country with him. He claims “the more holes and rips it got, the warmer it seemed to be.”
