Two distinctive Taranaki peaks take centre stage on this satin embroidered banner crafted by members of the Ōākura branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers (WDFF) in 1925.
Many classic examples of homemade art and craft are cared for in the Puke Ariki Heritage Collection, including a large array of banners and flags related to the WDFF and Country Women’s Institute (CWI).
While many of the banners follow standard lines the inclusion of local landmarks, including Paritūtū and Mount Taranaki, gives them a character all of their own.
