In 1960, Van Beers Motors, who already operated a service station in Westown, opened this branch in Moturoa. While there was already garage premises on the site, Van Beers completely rebuilt the garage and their promise of 7-day service was welcomed by the local community.
For a number of years the business has been part of the BP group. In August 2015 the service station was demolished in preparation of a complete rebuild on the site. New tanks were installed, six pumps and a larger shop. The existing workshop, located at the rear of the building was not rebuilt.
Alongside the service station was a two-storey residence that was likely built in the 1920s or 30s. This was also demolished.
The new BP Moturoa station opened on 13 December 2015.
