This cottage is likely to have been constructed in the late nineteenth century for the well-known Sole family. Thomas Sole was the recipient of the Crown Grant for section 2053 in 1883.
The cottage was rented out by Sole and the 1895 edition of the Stones Street Directories indicates that painter James William Nash was residing at this location.
The sides were originally clad in plain weatherboard (recently covered with corrugated iron), and the front in rusticated weatherboard. Its two front sash windows have been replaced at some stage.
