On 21 October 1910 a building permit was issued for the construction of premises for the Taranaki County Council in Robe Street. It was located on the corner of Robe and Powderham Streets. The first meeting in the new building was held on 9 January 1911.
It was designed by New Plymouth architect Frank Messenger. The contractors were Boon Bros. and the estimated cost was £789.00.
The Taranaki County Council built new premises on the adjacent section in 1962, although still continued to use the old wooden building.
In 1982 a decision was made to demolish the building and turn it into a carpark for council staff. (Taranaki Herald 13 September 1982)
At the time of this TDN "From the archives" entry on 1 October 2012 the site was being used as the carpark for the neighbouring accountancy firm. It's still (2023) a carpark.
