NPDC holds plans for the building, dated September 1927. The architect was W.N. Stephenson, and it was built as a "Shop & Dwelling for Mr J. Gleeson".

John Gleeson is listed as both a farmer and settler on electoral rolls.

A permit was issued to Mr Gleeson on 12 September 1927, for Section "Part H" on Devon Road. The builder was Henry Martini and the estimated cost was £1000.
