The NPDC has plans for the building, dated September 1927. The architect was W.N.Stephenson and it was built as a "Shop & Dwelling for Mr J. Gleeson".
John Gleeson is listed as both a farmer and settler on electoral rolls.
A permit was issued to Mr Gleeson on September 12, 1927 for Section "Part H" on Devon Road. The builder was Henry Martini and the estimated cost was £1000.00.
At present (2023) it houses the retail outlet, Taranaki Hardcore.
