A permit for the construction of a residence for "Sandford" (Arthur Frederick Sandford) on Sections 19 and 20, George Street, was granted by the Borough Council in July 1921 - the contractors were Jones and Sandford, and the estimated construction cost was £950.
Arthur Sandford had previously resided for a short time (about a year), in the present bungalow at 32 Cutfield Road, before relocating to this house upon its completion.
An early example of a home constructed in the English Cottage Style.
