This villa was constructed for Mrs Evans in early 1906, with a permit granted by the Borough Council for its construction on 9 January 1906 - the estimated construction value being £300.
Whilst Boon Bros are noted in the permit book as the architects (they were almost certainly the builders), the style of the house does seem to point to noted New Plymouth architect Frank Messenger as being responsible for its design - a faceted front bay with fish scale shingles, and importantly, angled mouldings, are all hallmarks of a Messenger-designed villa of the period.
Town Section 1026.
