160_Vivian_Street_2017__rear_.jpg Henry Weston's Residence - rear entrance. Hamish Crimp (2017).

This large home is often admired and occupies a prominent position on the hill at the western end of Vivian Street. The building was constructed for Henry Weston, long-time owner of the Taranaki Herald and Justice of the Peace, in 1895. It was probably completed around September 1895 when the Taranaki Herald published an article on the home.

The architect for the home was James Sanderson, and the main builder was Mr Webberly. Plumbing was undertaken by Mr Cummane, the bricklaying and masonry by Mr Back, Mr Freeman completed the plastering, and Messrs Okeys Arnolds and Earp the painting and wallpapering.
