This attractive villa residence was one of a row of three villas (116, 118 & 120 Hine Street) constructed by timber firm Henry Brown & Co between about 1913 and 1916.
The house was purchased by printer Thomas Dandford Charters in 1919, and it remained his home until the 1940s.
122 Hine Street is part of a continuous row of five villas that make an important contribution to the streetscape - such a grouping of villas is now uncommon in New Plymouth.
