This building is located on the corner of Devon Street East and Liardet Streets.

On 18 January 1929 a permit was issued to W.H. Broome for the erection of a building on PT Section 913 in Devon Street. The builder was J.T. Julian and the estimated cost £1,200. Architect unknown.

Earlier in the month on 9 January 1929 the Taranaki Daily News reported that Mrs Pellew's building on the corner of Devon and Liardet Streets was being demolished in preparation for Broome's new building. On 6 June 1929 the business advertised their "Opening Sale", in the new building on 'Broome's Corner'.

William Henry Broome is credited with the invention of the "Swanndri".

After 1937 the business was known as Broome & Lynch. Broome died on 8 June 1943, survived by his wife and five children.
