This villa was constructed for Mr Frederick (Fred) Charles Boulton and his family in 1913.
Whilst Fred purchased sections 6 and 8 of 'Tattonville' in June 1911, it wasn't until May 1913 that New Plymouth architects Sanderson and Griffiths (James Sanderson and Horace Victor Griffiths), called for tenders for "the erection of a residence at Frankley Road for Mr Fred Boulton".
Fred's son, Frederick Walter Boulton, is listed as living here in 1919 and in 1921 the house was sold.
The exterior of the villa is in largely original condition and has strong aesthetic and streetscape values.
