This villa in Gill Street - south side between Hobson and Brown Streets - was built in 1907 for Mr Christopher Bond. A permit was issued to him on 4 September, 1907 for a "cottage" on town section number 1999. The builder was his brother, Robert Bond and the contract price was £300.
Mr Bond and his wife Sarah lived in the villa until his death in 1926. The property was then bought by New Plymouth businessman James McNeill. He subdivided the section and moved the house 90º to face the road. Plans for this were drawn by the firm, Messenger, Griffiths & Taylor.
The image above is from "Google" street view, taken in February 2010. Since this date the house has been re-located to a section on Burns Street in Westown and replaced by a more modern residence.
