The original section of this cottage is thought to have been constructed in late-1892 for John Barron, who purchased Town Section 750 from Mary Webster (wife of William Dawson Webster) in September 1892.

Constructed from rough sawn plain weatherboards, this cottage also retains a number of double-hung sash windows.

In 1912 noted New Plymouth architect Frank Messenger designed additions for the then owner Miss Jones - although these, and later alterations, have been in keeping with the original style of the cottage.
