A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Montague James Irvine Armstrong on 19 January 1921 for the construction of a dwelling on Cameron Street - Montague Armstrong was listed as the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £1400.
This home was possibly the first built in the land subdivided from the "hen and chickens" homes at 37 Cameron St and Pendarves St that had originally been built by the Hirst family but at the time of their subdivision was owned by the Fookes family.
Montague (1889-1944) and his wife Mabel Weller (1878-1952) lived in the house for the rest of their lives. The home was sold to Mr and Mrs A E Waters in 1952 and the bathroom was modernised.
In 1970 the home was purchased by Mr and Mrs Gaffney. During this period a double garage was built, extensions were made to the east side of the building and the kitchen. In November 1988 the rear of the section was subdivided.
In 2007 the property was sold to R Hawkins and L Penny before being sold again in 2024.
