This cottage was probably constructed about 1901 and was originally located at the front of the section.
Town Section 128 was subdivided in 1899, and the eastern half of the section was purchased by New Plymouth architect John Arthur Maisey in October 1901.
Ownership of this western half of the section passed to T.S. Weston in 1900 and this house is thought to have been constructed soon after this.
In 1904 Weston sold the house to Lovell and in 1922 Edith McKenna bought the property - she was still living here in the late 1930s.
Originally the cottage was located at the front of the section and was probably shifted to the rear of the section around 2000, to enable the construction of another dwelling on the property.
