This large corner villa was constructed in 1910, with a permit granted by the Borough Council to Mrs H. M. Buckman on 24 January 1910 for the construction of a residence on Part Town Section 752, Dawson Street - G. W. Hartnell was the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £500.
In April 1910 the original Town Section number 752 was subdivided and another, less ornate, villa was constructed on the smaller neighbouring section in 1911.
In May 1911 the ownership of this property was transferred to retired farmer, Walter Blair. (Taranaki Land Deed Indexes I3 page 167 and I13 page 603)
The villa was moved off the site on 26 November 2023 and relocated to 144A Heta Road to be restored.
