59 Morley Street (circa 1890s)

Little is currently known about the history of this cottage, however it was likely constructed in the late 1890s.

DP835 confirms that Town Sections 288 and 314, between Powderham and Vivian Streets, were subdivided in July 1895 - 59 Morley Street was thus likely constructed after this date. 

The cottage is clearly present in a circa 1900 photograph of this area taken from the Barrett Street Hospital site. (Puke Ariki collection PHO2009-191 - cropped)
