A permit was granted by the Borough Council to Reginald George Davis on 25 January 1921 for the construction of a dwelling on Lot 39, South Road (now St Aubyn Street) - Davis the builder, and the estimated construction cost was £750.
Davis was a railway worker and lived in the home until his death on 6 December 1959, aged 72 - he is buried in Te Hēnui Cemetery.
