This building has undergone renovations that have largely disguised an early 1900s villa. Whilst the original rusticated weatherboard and sash windows have been retained on the sides, the front and roof have been significantly altered.
Prominent New Plymouth citizen Alexander Shuttleworth owned the section in the early 1900s, and it is likely he had the home constructed as a rental property.
