This corner bay villa was constructed for Christopher Carter in 1906. The architect was Frank Messenger of New Plymouth.
A building permit was issued to Carter on 23 November 1906 for residence on Town Sections 1232 & 1233 with the estimated value of the build said to be £525.
The villa faces north, but has its entrance from the rear, on Shortland Street - the Shortland Street section is a later addition in a style sympathetic to the original.
