A permit was granted by the Borough Council to New Plymouth builder Joseph McCracken on 9 August 1919 for the construction of a house on Town Section 113, St Aubyn Street - Russell and Son were listed as the builders, and the estimated construction cost was £750.
It seems McCracken only lived in the house for as short time before moving further along St Aubyn Street, where he had another house constructed.
