This bungalow was constructed for George Stephen Early in 1925. The house was designed by noted New Plymouth architects Messenger, Griffiths & Taylor, who advertised for tenders for its construction in mid-September 1925.
A permit was granted by the Borough Council to George Stephen Early on 30 September 1925 for the construction of a house on an Pt 28, Holsworthy Road (now Clawton Street) – Boon Bros were the builders, and the estimated construction cost was £1140.
