Retaining Wall, 29 Barrett Street (1910s)

This large retaining wall was probably constructed sometime in the 1910s, although the original home it was associated with has since been demolished. 

Retaining walls of this type, utilising local volcanic rock, were popular from around the late 1900s until the 1930s, and are often associated with early bungalows.
