This memorial seat was unveiled at Centennial Park, Paritūtū on March 31 1941 by Lady Newall, the wife of Governor-General Sir Cyril Newall. The memorial was erected by members of the Women's Insititute and the Women's Division of the NZ Farmer's Union. 

Text on  the plaque reads:

Centenary of Taranaki

31st March 1941

Commemorate the Courage

Devotion and Sacrifices of

The Pioneer Women of Taranaki

And the Gallant Part They

Played in the Founding and

Development of This Province
