Henry James Ford established a small brickworks in Hu Road, Rawhitiroa in 1898. It operated until 1909.

Henry Ford and his wife Emily Ann took up the land in 1895 when the Ngaere Block was being opened up for settlement.

This Heritage Trail sign was constructed by Bob Bird and Ray Every using Ford bricks from a nearby house chimney.

The object in the paddock behind is a boiler - reputedly from a traction engine - that supplied power to the works.
