The NZ Defence Department approved the loan of this 25-pounder field gun to the Stratford RSA in 1979.

The Stratford District Council accepted responsibility for the gun in 2017 after the closing of the RSA. (Taranaki Daily News 15 June 2017)

The Mark II 25-pounder, fitted on a Mark I carriage, was the standard field gun used by British and Commonwealth forces during WWII.

This '25-pounder' Field Gun moved from the former RSA property to the Patea Bridge Reserve, Broadway, Stratford adjacent to the Colonel Malone statue in 2017
