The Oerlikon 20mm Cannon is mounted on Princes Street, Hāwera at the entrance to the South Taranaki Returned Services Assn premises (1921) and adjacent to the 1924 War Memorial arch & the 'Year of the Veteran' Memorial.
The cannon was presented to the South Taranaki RSA by the Royal NZ Navy after the de-commissioning of HMNZS Taranaki in 1983.
