Hāwera Municipal Band Hall (1913 - Former)

This simple concrete building on the corner of Princes and Furlong Streets was demolished in August 2014 after being assessed as having a significant earthquake risk.

It was built in 1913 for the well-respected accountant John A.Turton (Hawera & Normanby Star 25 October 1913 p.1), who died only three years after its completion. It was later the offices of the solicitor, D.G Smart. Other uses over the years include; the Christian Science Church reading room, County Council information office, and more recently the practice rooms of the Hāwera Municipal Band.
